Documents to be provided and rental conditions

There are three important documents/cards you must bring when collecting your vehicle:

  • a full driving license held for at least 12 months for all named drivers
  • A credit card which must be in the name of one of the drivers
  • The voucher sent by corsica-car-rental.com

Duration of the rental:

  • Minimum of 24 hours.
  • Also there are NO refunds for early returns or unused rental days under our contractual agreement with the car rental suppliers.

Check before you go:

Check your car rental by comparing it to the scheme on your contract.

If you find an anomaly or a defect, you should warn your rental agent.

Most of the time, it is a mistake or a forgotten information, and your agent will add the defects on the contract.

Be very careful ! If you wait and indicate the defect when dropping-off, it will be too late. Therefore, charges might apply if the car is damaged.

Check that your vehicle has a full tank when picking it up. If not, warn the agent. After a fast checking, your agent will indicate on your contract that the tank wasn’t filled. As for the defects on your rental car, you need to warn your agent before leaving. After, it will be too late.

During the rental

Security
Always make sure that your car is totally locked – this includes all doors and windows, and the sun roof.
Do not forget to put the alarm on.
Do not leave items on display. Valuable items that you cannot take with you should be locked in the car boot.
These apply all the time, even when you leave your car for a very short period of time. Although Corsica is known to be a real safe island, it is better not to dare the devil!

Driving advice

Always drive your car safely and sensibly.

This includes limiting off-road driving; forbidding driving training; not to drive for sports competitions; not to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, etc.

Liability of the customer

The hirer’s liability for all damage or loss to the vehicle begins upon signature of the contract.
The transfer of liability to corsica-car-rental.com or any of its suppliers is defined by the return of the vehicle, of its keys and the supporting documents to the rental counter at the agreed corsica-car-rental.com or corsica-car-rental.com supplier location.

The hirer is bound to drive safely and sensibly only on the roads suitable for motor vehicles.
In the event of an accident, it is necessary that the hirer establishes an accident report drawn up by the parties involved.
In the event of theft of the vehicle or damages caused to it, the hirer is bound to produce the police theft report.

REMINDER: in the event of a theft, the hirer is also bound to supply the car keys and produce the proof that every precaution has always been taken to avoid the theft of the vehicle. In the event of the hirer failing to comply with those measures, he or she will be considered liable and will have to indemnify corsica-car-rental.com to the resale value of the vehicle (note that the amount cannot exceed the market value of the rented vehicle at the time of the event).

The hirer is also responsible for all damage or loss to the vehicle keys. Consequently, in the event of loss of the keys or damage caused to them, the hirer is bound to pay the cost of repair or replacement.

Note that our keys are electronic and thus NOT waterproof.

When dropping off

Customers who fail to return the rental car on the date and time specified in the contract will have to pay late return fees.

It is also important that you should arrange to return your vehicle within normal opening hours. Note that you will be responsible for your vehicle if you decide to drop it off unattended outside opening hours.

Fill up before you return. Failing to top up the tank will result in additional gas charges (note that the gas price tends to be higher in Corsica).

Before leaving the vehicle, check to be sure you have not left any personal belongings.
