You can actually rent a car in Corsica and then go for a walk in Sardinia, the neighbouring island.
Just be aware that some insurance closures do not have the same value in Italy, as well as for technical support.

Finally, you can go to Sardinia but you must imperatively bring your car back to Corsica. You cannot return it to a foreign rental agency.
